On April 22, President Trump signed an order blocking the issuance of green cards to those outside the United States for at least 60 days.
The order has many exemptions. For example, it does not apply to overseas spouses or young children of American citizens.
The order also does not apply to immigrants already in the United States, who can still convert their existing visas into green cards. And refugees who are already citizens can still apply for green cards on behalf of their minor children and spouses.
