Extended Stay at Home Order and Phased Reopening of Some Businesses
On Friday, the Governor extended the stay-at-home order until May 31, 2020.
For now, schools and churches stay closed, as do gyms and other places where groups can gather. The State seacoast beaches stay closed, but lake beaches are opening with restrictions. There is no news yet about summer camps.
Some businesses are being allowed to reopen. Health care facilities can resume elective care today, May 4th. They must screen patients and staff for coronavirus symptoms. On May 11, hair salons, barber shops and retail stores can resume business with restrictions. On May 18, restaurants may serve food outdoors.
New Hampshire has not yet seen the sustained reduction in cases for 14 days that was originally going to be the marker for limited reopening of the economy. Over the past two weeks, the state has seen the current number of residents hospitalized due to COVID-19 continue to grow, and on Friday, coronavirus deaths per day in New Hampshire hit its highest number to date.
Everyone must continue acting with great caution. Avoid exposure. Stay at home as much as possible. Wear a cloth face mask if you must go out. Continue to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.
